Bombardier Receives Order for 240 Electrostar Cars for the UK.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 20, 2001

Bombardier Transportation Bombardier Transportation is the rail equipment division of the Bombardier group. Bombardier Transportation is the world’s largest company in the rail equipment manufacturing and servicing industry. Its headquarters are in Berlin.  announced that it has confirmed an order with GOVIA for the supply of 240 Electrostar electrical multiple units to replace slam door trains on key South Central routes in the UK.

The order is valued at approximately $465 million Cdn (325 million euros).

This announcement brings the total number of Electrostar units ordered to date in the UK to 906 cars. Firm orders and options on hand currently amount to 1742 cars.
