Bombardier Celebrates Winning Pedigree by Launching DS650 BAJA ATV.

VALCOURT, Quebec--(BW SportsWire)--Sept. 6, 2001

Bombardier Recreational Products is celebrating championship pedigree with the introduction of the DS650(TM) Baja Baja (bŏ`yŏ), city (1991 est. pop. 38,867), S Hungary, on the Danube River. It is a river port and a road and rail hub, where agricultural products of the surrounding region are traded and processed. Industries produce machinery, furniture, and chemicals. A fine 18th-century town hall and several baroque churches are in the city., its new high-performance ATV.

The Bombardier DS650 Baja has been built to commemorate Bombardier's victory at the Baja 2000 Challenge, the world's longest running and most gruelling off-road desert endurance race.

With its orange and black colors, the DS650 Baja takes a special place of honour in the growing Bombardier ATV line-up which includes the sport-utility Quest(TM) 650 and now Quest 500, the utility-targeted Traxter(TM), Traxter XT, Traxter XL and the DS650 sport model.

"In less than two years on the market, our DS650 has taken first place at the Baja 2000 Challenge, the Numb Bum 2000, the Roof of Africa mountain race to name just these."

The DS650 Baja is an advanced version of the DS650, which was named ATV of the Year in 2000 by 4-Wheel ATV Action Magazine. It shares standard DS650 features such as a full-size sport platform, a 5-speed constant mesh transmission, 530 O-ring chain drive, sport-tuned long travel suspension and a 290 Watt electrical output. This quad also carries a 653 cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke Rotax(R) engine which delivers more torque and power than any other ATV in its class.

The DS650 Baja features include: Ohtsu(a) tires with reinforcement; handle bar guards; aluminum bumpers and muffler shield; a tachometer ta·chom·e·ter (t-km-t; a new high-performance grip; front and rear shock protectors; foot-peg extensions; a unique seat design; a new A-arm assembly; and a powerful, distinctive triple-headlamp array.

The DS650 Baja hits the starting line at dealer showrooms in September.

Bombardier Recreational Products designs, develops, builds, distributes and markets Ski-Doo(R) and Lynx(R) snowmobiles, snowgrooming equipment and multi-purpose tracked vehicles, Sea-Doo(R) watercraft and sport boats and Bombardier(R) all-terrain vehicles. Snowmobiles, ATVs, watercraft and some sport boats are powered by Rotax(R) engines that are designed and built by Bombardier-Rotax GmbH, which also builds motors for motorcycles, scooters, karts and aircraft. In March 2001, the group acquired the Evinrude(R) and Johnson(R) outboard marine engines as well as the Ficht Ram Injection(R) technology.
