Bombardier Awarded a $106 Million US Order for 30 Trams to the City of Valencia, Spain.

) for the delivery of 30 bi-directional Bombardier FLEXITY Outlook trams. The new 100% low-floor trams will be put in service on the tram network of Valencia and Alicante in Spain. The contract is valued at approximately $106 million US (81 million Euros). Deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2006 and 2007. The contract also includes an option for further 10 trams of the same type.

The FLEXITY tram for Valencia is based on a proven modular technology that features a 100 % low-floor interior while using conventional wheel-set bogies offering excellent riding behaviour and increasing passenger comfort. With a length of 32.5 metres, each tram consists of 5 modules. The vehicles also include the Bombardier MITRAC propulsion and control system offering highest reliability and featuring the latest electronic technology. For heightened passenger comfort the new trams are equipped with air conditioning as well as designated wheel-chair and multipurpose mul·ti·pur·pose
