Formerly the Optical Fiber Solutions (OFS) Group of Lucent, OFS was turned into a stand-alone company acquired by Furukawa Electric in 2001. ). The Cruise Clean initiative is geared toward powerboaters to increase awareness of the environmentally-responsible Evinrude(R) direct injection (DI) outboard engines.

"Cruise Clean is an effort by Bombardier to use its new cleaner running Evinrude DI outboards to symbolize its spirit of commitment to a cleaner marine environment," said Roch Lambert, Vice President and General Manager, Boats and Outboard Engines Division. "We want to make sure that powerboat users are aware of the significant advantages of this new generation of Evinrude marine power."

Bombardier, Jean-Michel Cousteau and Ocean Futures Society enter second year of environmental partnership

Bombardier Recreational Products begins the second year of its strategic alliance with Jean-Michel Cousteau and OFS, whose efforts promote global understanding and education directed at preserving the world's oceans. Bombardier and OFS celebrated the second year of the alliance today at the Cruise Clean initiative kick-off.

Through this alliance, Evinrude and Johnson(R) outboard engines are the exclusive providers of outboard engine power for the OFS boats. Each vessel is equipped with either Evinrude DI engines, which are the most technologically advanced, low emissions outboards available on the market worldwide, or Johnson multi-port electronic fuel injection (EFI See UEFI.

"We are pleased to continue our alliance with one of the industry's most prominent manufacturers focused on building products that support our overall objectives - preserving our world's water resources," said Jean-Michel Cousteau, Founder and President, Ocean Futures Society. "The Evinrude DI products, with their lower emissions and overall cleaner technology, enable us to power our expedition boats. Coupled with their Johnson EFI four-stroke engines, we have the capability to use the best outboard tool for every application."

"Bombardier is proud of our ongoing relationship with such an impactful organization as Ocean Futures Society and we look forward to continue working with Jean-Michel Cousteau and his staff to preserve marine environments around the globe," said Lambert.

Bombardier is committed to the continued development of innovative outboard engines technologies to deliver cleaner, lower emissions to help preserve the environment. The goals of the CELP program are to provide students with a series of educational adventures; to inspire curiosity in and appreciation for the underwater world through exploration; and to meet individual school and national goals for environmental education in natural settings.

"Working in partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau, Ocean Futures Society and CELP demonstrates the level of commitment we have for the restoration and conservation of precious marine habitats," said Lambert. "By educating youth on environmental responsibility and available technology that is environmentally-responsible, such as Evinrude DI outboard engines, we are working to ensure there is a future for our natural resources."
