Bombardier Business Aircraft today announced a fourth Bombardier Global Express The Bombardier BD-700 Global Express is an ultra long range corporate and VIP high speed jet which has also been modified for military missions. Bombardier began studies in 1991 and the aircraft was officially launched in 1993. First flight occurred on October 13 1996. (R) aircraft has joined the flight test and certification program following a successful first flight Monday. Global Express 9004 will make its public debut at this year's National Business Aircraft Association (NBAA NBAA National Business Aviation Association, Inc. NBAA National Board of Accountants and Auditors NBAA Nichiren Buddhist Association of America ) in Dallas, where business jet owners and the aviation industry in general will have the opportunity to inspect this first completed aircraft. Global Express 9004 departed Bombardier's de Havilland de Ha·vil·land , Olivia Born 1916. "The aircraft handled extremely well and we can see improvements over 9003's first flight," stated Peter Boyd. "All systems operated normally and overall it was an excellent first flight." Bombardier test pilots expect to conduct some 10 to 15 hours of familiarization flying in Toronto before the aircraft flies to NBAA. Following its debut in Dallas, Global Express 9004 will join the certification program in Wichita where it will be used for function and reliability testing, involving 150 hours of simulated operation flights. Approximately 30 to 40 flight scenarios simulating corporate routes will be conducted in order to evaluate all systems under operational conditions, as well as additional testing for the main systems. Prior to its first flight, the aircraft was outfitted with an interior at Bombardier's de Havilland's final assembly line. Certification on schedule Flight testing and certification of the Global Express is also proceeding as planned and certification is on schedule for May 1998, shortly followed by first customer deliveries. As of August 30, the three aircraft currently in the flight test program had accumulated 705 flight hours during 272 flights. Aircraft 9001 is utilized mainly for aircraft handling and performance testing Performance Testing covers a broad range of engineering or functional evaluations where a material, product, or system is not specified by detailed material or component specifications: Rather, emphasis is on the final measurable performance characteristics. . Aircraft 9002 is deployed to evaluate and test all onboard systems, and is presently engaged in pressurization Pressurization generally refers to the application of pressure in a given situation or environment; and more specifically refers to the process by which atmospheric pressure is maintained in an isolated or semi-isolated atmospheric environment (for instance, in an aircraft, or , environmental control system and anti-icing systems testing. Global Express 9003 is deployed to conduct avionics and autopilot testing. As the flight test program progresses, CAE (1) (Computer-Aided Engineering) Software that analyzes designs which have been created in the computer or that have been created elsewhere and entered into the computer. Electronics Ltd. continues to gather and incorporate data for the Global Express flight simulator. All data will be incorporated by the end of the year and the simulator is scheduled to be operational at Bombardier's training facility in early 1998. Global Express 9005, 9006 and 9007 are currently in various stages of assembly. Aircraft 9005, the first Global Express to be delivered into completion, is scheduled for pre-flight tests in late Oct. and is on schedule for delivery to the new Bombardier Completion Center in Montreal in December 1997.
