"We are delighted Italy recognizes the effectiveness of the Canadair 415 by placing this order," stated Tom Appleton, president, Amphibious Aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace Bombardier Aerospace is a division of the Bombardier group, with the third largest workforce (behind Boeing and Airbus) and the fourth largest in yearly delivery of commercial airplanes (behind Boeing, Airbus and Embraer). . "This fourth order from the Italian government clearly demonstrates the utility of the Canadair 415 combating wildfires throughout this country."

Since beginning service with the Italian Department of Civil Protection in the spring of 1995, the Canadair 415 aircraft have now accumulated some 6,575 flight hours and have completed more than 22,200 drops. They have demonstrated their excellent capabilities during the past fire seasons by operating effectively and safely at low altitudes in rugged and demanding conditions.

"The 415 is providing Italy's firefighters with the most advanced aerial firefighting Aerial firefighting is a method to combat wildfires using aircraft. In the Mediterranean region, France, Croatia and Italy will operate 22 Canadair 415 aircraft this summer. Spain operates 15 CL-215T turboprop aircraft, while Greece, Spain and Croatia have 22 CL-215 piston aircraft in service.
