BOLTON captain Kevin Nolan is remaining upbeat even though the club find themselves struggling to get going for the second successive season.

Yet again they are showing weakness in front of goal and have failed to score in four of their eight Premier League matches.

Matt Taylor and Andy O'Brien both came close to breaking the deadlock but Bolton had to settle for a point from a 0-0 draw against near-neighbours Blackburn.

Nolan said: "We are 15th in the table, which is not great but it is better than last year. Hopefully it is onwards and upwards. "In the next couple of years we hope to be back in the top eight and going for a UEFA Cup spot. This season our sights are on getting in the top 10.

"We played some good stuff against Blackburn."

Blackburn had to soak up a lot of pressure but could have sealed the points, only for Jason Roberts to head wide from close range two minutes before half-time.

Ince said: "It was a golden chance and you know when you come to places like this you are only going to get one or two opportunities.

"He knows that and is disappointed about it. But that's football for you.

"You cannot say anything to someone when that happens. I am sure it will occur again, not just to Jason."
