Bolton boss: Everton our Blueprint; EVERTON.

GARY MEGSON Gary John Megson (born 2 May, 1959 in Manchester) is a former English footballer and manager. He has recently been appointed as Leicester City's new manager. As a player, he is arguably best remembered from his days at Sheffield Wednesday, where his father Don Megson also played  has hailed the "brilliant" job that David Moyes David William Moyes (b. April 25, 1963 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a football manager and former player. He is currently the manager of Everton F.C.. He has twice been named, in 2003 and 2005, as the 'League Managers' Association manager of the year', and is one of the younger  has done at Everton and believes the Goodison Park club are the ideal blueprint for Bolton to follow.

Trotters boss Megson has watched on in admiration during the past seven years as Moyes has made the Blues a forced to be reckoned with.

They have often punched above their weight, pipping Liverpool to the fourth Champions League spot in 2005 and dumping their rivals out of the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Megson was at Goodison Park to witness Dan Gosling's extra-time strike book Everton's fifth-round spot, and he will back there tomorrow with Bolton.

"David is a good friend of mine," said Megson.

"We were talking last week at Old Trafford Old Trafford commonly refers to two sporting arenas:

  • Old Trafford (cricket ground), home of Lancashire County Cricket Club.
about the respective problems that we both have, and they are similar.

"I know David would look at his squad and say it's too small. He's got quality but maybe not got enough quantity.

"It's got to the point where he is having huge problems with his strikers. He has to go with Tim Cahill

"To be able to beat one of the best teams in Europe in Liverpool - with no recognised centre-forward - is a great testament to the job David has performed there.

"I think Everton are a pointer for how we should do things at this football club."

Megson is a confirmed admirer of Everton's central defensive partnership of Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka.

"Just look what David has done with Lescott and Jagielka," said. Megson. "He brought in Lescott from Wolves and he's gone on to establish himself in the England side.

"Jagielka is another huge success story."
