Bolt: I can still blow Gay away; WORLD ATHLETICS.

USAIN BOLT Usain Bolt (born 21 August1986) is a Jamaican sprinter and current world junior and Jamaican record holder over 200 m. Early life
Bolt was born Trelawny, Jamaica) and educated at William Knibb High School.
admits sprint rival Tyson Gay Tyson Gay (born August 9, 1982) is an American sprinter who won gold medals at the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4 x 100 meters events at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics in Osaka, Japan.  could steal his crown as the fastest man on the planet when they square up at the World Championship in Berlin tomorrow - but only if he has an off day.

Defending champ Gay has warned Olympic king Bolt that he is out to break his 100metres world record and replace him as the greatest sprinter of all time.

And Jamaican track sensation Bolt, who won three golds in Beijing last year as well breaking three world records, believes his American rival can beat him if he doesn't hit his top form.

The 22-year-old said: "I am not invincible, I am not unbeatable. Other people will have a good day when I don't.

"But until then I'll keep winning. I'm confident in my ability.

"I'm ready for anything that comes my way. I'm aware of what I did at the Olympics in Beijing. I have set a standard for myself that I have to live up to."

Coming his way, starting in the qualifying rounds today, is a man six inches shorter than him and five years older - but the quickest in the world this year.

Gay was absent from Beijing through injury when 'Lightning' struck gold three times.

But a year to the day since Bolt clocked 9.69secs in China in a remarkable run that saw him slow down at the finish but still smash the 100m mark, the pair will finally get to go head-to-head in tomorrow's final.

It has the potential to be the greatest sprint duel of all time, with Gay saying: "I believe 9.6secs is obtainable - that is my goal."

Even that may not be good enough if Bolt gets it right.

Former Olympic 100m champion Maurice Greene Maurice Greene may refer to:
  • Maurice Greene (composer) (1696–1755), English composer and organist;
  • Maurice Greene (athlete) (b. 1974), American athlete.
said: "No-one really knows how fast Usain USAIN United States Agricultural Information Network  can go.

"I don't think he's run a complete race in the 100m yet. He has not reached his top end speed. He still has a lot to learn."

If that is a frightening prospect for Gay, who requires four more strides than his rival to cover the distance, he is not letting on.

The American said: "Usain has shown the world what he can do, I have not had that chance yet.

"I have a lot left in the tank and I am going after what he has."

The heats and quarter-finals take place today, with Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu Christine Ohuruogu (born May 17, 1984 in east London) is an English sprinter of Nigerian heritage who specialises in the 400 metres - the event for which she is the current World Champion.

Ohuruogu's Personal Best of 49.
also beginning the defence of her World 400m title.

In a season disrupted by injury Ohuruogu has been running two seconds slower than arch-rival Sanya Richards Sanya Richards (born February 26, 1985 in Kingston, Jamaica) is a track and field athlete who competes internationally for the United States. She was a gold medalist in the 4x400m relay at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. , but she has never lost a major championship final.

The British star said: "I find it comical when people say I'm not in form. I have never really gone into a championship super fast.

"My coach always says 400m is not about who is fastest but who has the strong enough will to hang in till the end. I am here to do a job."
