Bollywood actor John Abraham urges youth to vote.

Mumbai, Feb 25 (ANI): With general elections round the corner, campaigns urging people to cast their votes, have gained momentum in the country.

One such campaign was launched in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Bollywood actor John Abraham, who is the ambassador for the campaign, flagged off 'Ungali Utha Aur Vote Kar' by pledging the youth to be the catalyst for change that they want to see in their country.

Urging for the need to have young leaders who can lead India towards progress, John said, "Today post Slumdog, today post everything, India seems to be the flavour of the world. Why can't we have young politicians out there who represent the country, who speak smart and who go out there and try to represent such a great nation like India."

Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's quote, "Be the change you want to see", the campaign is aimed at urging the youth to participate in the process of bringing change in the country.

"It's mainly about trying and getting maximum people to vote, in whichever means possible. Here they are using celebrities and media to get the people to vote. We need to get more involved in the system and if we vote we can actually get the change. We want to see by getting the right people into the Parliament," said Nilesh Patil, a student.

India has faced quite turbulent times in 2008.

Fed up with the country's 'system' and egged on by a need to 'change', many youth organizations have been staging such movements and urging people to cast their votes and elect new and young leaders.

Obama's election has also acted as a catalyst for the growing need of young politicians in India who through their dynamism and vitality, can take the country to new heights. (ANI)
