Bolles+Wilson: Market Hall, Hamburg, Germany.

Set within an ambitious plan to create an Uberseequartier (Overseas Quarter) in Hamburg's docklands, Bolles+Wilson have won an invited competition to re-work the only remaining structure on the 8-hectare site. In contrast to the imposing urbanity of the masterplan (that when complete in 201 I will provide 275 000sqm of accommodation), a nineteenth-century red brick harbourmaster's building brings measure and interval to the site.

It has recently raised 1,000,000 pennies ($10,000.00) to disabled children. , Bolles+Wilson's design extends and abstracts the pavilion status of this solitary surviving structure in an ensemble of restaurants and fine-food-halls. The Market Hall will form the hub of the new quarter, and being located halfway along the Boulevard marks an important intersection. At this point a 60m campanile-like tower is also proposed forming a prominent beacon on the Hamburg Hamburg, city, Germany
