Boeing Soars Using Customer Support Strategy Maps.
'Performance Measurement 2001'
CHAPEL HILL, N.C., Aug. 1 /PRNewswire/ --
The Boeing Company is in its second year of implementing the Balanced Scorecard within its Customer Aviation Services. Although this effort was initially treated as a measurement activity, the Customer Support team is now focused on the transition from organizational to strategic management. By using the Balanced Scorecard as a framework, Boeing can translate strategy into objectives that drive performance.
A Boeing Strategy Analyst will speak at Performance Measurement 2001: Six Sigma & The Balanced Scorecard, the quarterly meeting of the Global Benchmarking Council (http://www.globalbenchmarking.com/meetings/agenda.asp). The meeting, held from August 8-10 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto, will also include presentations from key executives at Motorola, DuPont, Eastman Kodak, Raytheon, and NCR.
Boeing will discuss its use of Strategy Maps, the Balanced Scorecard, and other measures in communicating a strategic focus throughout the organization. Key discussion topics include:
* Why have a strategy?
* What initiatives should be funded?
* Why is there a high failure rate for initiatives?
* What is the impact of functional and hierarchical boundaries?
* What measures encourage participation?
Meeting attendees will trade insights and lessons learned on Six Sigma, the Balanced Scorecard and best practice benchmarking through detailed presentations, success-sharing roundtables and informal networking events.
