Boeing Selects Jabber XCP for U.S. Army Future Combat Systems.

As the Lead Systems Integrator for the U.S. Army's multi-billion-dollar Future Combat Systems (FCS FCS - Frame Check Sequence ) initiative, Boeing has selected Jabber, Inc. to provide the chat services component for the System of Systems Common Operating Environment A uniform configuration of hardware and software throughout an organization. It is designed to eliminate software and data incompatibilities and improve troubleshooting. It implies the use of the same primary applications and Web browser as well as the same operating system, database  (SOSCOE).

"Jabber XCP was selected to be included as the basis for chat services in SOSCOE because it has the proven flexibility, extensibility, security, and scalability necessary to connect hundreds of thousands of personnel, remote sensors, and other resources in real-time. Jabber XCP ensures that the right information gets to the right commander and individual soldier when the information is most valuable and actionable."

FCS is a networked "system-of-systems," combining advanced communications and technologies to link soldiers with both manned and unmanned ground and air platforms and sensors. As the basis for the Department of Defense's visionary transformation plan, FCS will significantly increase the Army's agility and reduce logistics requirements, allowing it to go anywhere and to overcome any adversary. FCS is also designed from the ground up to enhance joint operations and coordination between U.S. and coalition forces.

The company reports that in addition to FCS, Jabber XCP is currently deployed or under consideration by several other federal and state/local government agencies, including the U.S. Joint Forces Command's (USJFCOM USJFCOM United States Joint Forces Command ) Joint Experimentation Directorate (J9) and the Capital Wireless Integrated Network (CapWIN). CapWIN (www.capwin.org) is using Jabber XCP as the universal real-time messaging infrastructure for connecting first responders across more than 30 national, state and local jurisdictions around the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
