Advanced Process Planning and Quality Control Functionality Drive Software Selection for Assembly of V-22 Osprey Plus Re-Manufacturing of CH-47 Chinook 

HMS Software, a leading developer of enterprise manufacturing information management systems, today announced that The Boeing Company has purchased an additional 240 seats of HMS Software products following a successful 2002 pilot implementation at Boeing Integrated Defense Systems in suburban Philadelphia.

The new software, including HMS-CAPP(R) for computer aided process planning, HMS-Shop Floor Management(R) and HMS-Quality Management are being rolled out over the first half of the year for use in both the final assembly of the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft and the re-manufacturing and modernization program of the CH-47 Chinook heavy transport helicopter. This follows a pilot initiated in April 2002 to introduce a paperless manufacturing and assembly process, making it easier for manufacturing engineers and shop floor personnel to capture, author, retrieve, manage and distribute manufacturing data regarding the V-22 Osprey.

The HMS product suite will replace traditional manual processes at Boeing Philadelphia with an electronic workflow.
