Boeing Materials Approvals -- Baoji Titanium.

GARDENA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 5, 1999--

The Boeing Co. has just approved several additional Baoji Titanium Industry Co. titanium products for use on Boeing aerospace components.

The titanium products approved include:

-- DMS 1592 Sheet and Plate (6AI-4V-all forms);

-- DMS 1570 Annealed Bar (6AI-4V-all forms);

-- MIL-T-9046 Sheet and Plate (all alloys and all forms);

-- MIL-T-9047 Bars and Reforging Stock (all alloys and all

forms);

-- AMS 4911 Sheet and Plate (6AI-4V-all forms); and

-- AMS 4929 Bars, Wire, Forgings, and Rings (6AI-4V-all forms).

These qualifications mark the first time the U.S. aerospace industry has extended such extensive approvals to a titanium mill outside of North America. This year Trans World Alloys signed a five-year extension to its current exclusive agreement with Baoji Titanium Industry, China's largest titanium producer, to market Baoji's titanium products in the United States and Canada.

This substantial contract award is one of several contractual agreements Trans World Alloys has secured with both domestic and international titanium mills to ensure the continuous supply of high quality titanium products.

With the additions of these extensive Boeing approvals, Trans World Alloys has the largest availability of approved sources to provide titanium and aluminum mill products to the U.S. and Canadian markets as well as South American and European customers.

When contacted, Dennis Jones, operations manager for Trans World Alloys, stated: "The recent on-site review at Baoji by the Boeing Co. established a new high in preparedness for a foreign mill producer, as every area of the mill was operating at a world-class level. This allowed the approval process to easily establish Baoji's compliance with the stringent Boeing specification and manufacturing requirements."

Jones went on to add, "The titanium mill products Baoji manufactures are equal to the best produced in the United States."

Trans World Alloys, a high performance mill product service center with headquarters in Los Angeles and service centers in California, Kansas, and New York, maintains the largest available inventory of titanium and aluminum sheet, plate, and bar products. Trans World Alloys' customers are involved primarily in aerospace, commercial, medical, and industrial applications.
