Boeing Chooses ParaSoft's CodeWizard to Automate Coding Standard Enforcement Across Company.

Move Illustrates Growing Trend for Businesses to

Prevent Errors Before Costly Repairs are Required

The Boeing Company and ParaSoft Corporation have jointly announced that Boeing is licensing ParaSoft's CodeWizard to automate coding standard enforcement on major software development programs.

CodeWizard will automatically enforce "programming rules" and coding guidelines created by Boeing and already in use by the company's developers. Coding standards are used to ensure quality and uniformity in programs produced by a company's developers. Although they are not a new phenomenon, companies until recently had to rely on "self-policing" by developers to ensure that their standards were followed.

"Boeing believes in the use of coding standards and we have been using them for quite some time," said Lori Kilpatrick of Boeing. "With CodeWizard's versatility, we are able to automatically enforce Boeing coding standards, which will save us an appreciable ap·pre·cia·ble

amount of time and money on current, future and ongoing projects."

ParaSoft president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Dr. Adam Kolawa sees Boeing's move as part of an industry trend, which CodeWizard is helping to spur. "ParaSoft built CodeWizard with the intention of helping companies automatically enforce coding standards. We made it versatile enough that it can be adopted to any development process.

"We consider Boeing's decision to automatically enforce coding standards to be a very wise step. We are pleased that they chose CodeWizard to implement this decision and are confident that using CodeWizard as part of their development process will tremendously reduce Boeing's software development cost and increase reliability of the software their developers produce," added Kolawa.

About CodeWizard

CodeWizard is the world's only automatic coding standard enforcement tool. It uses patented Source Code Analysis technology (patent No. 5,860,011) to automatically alert developers of over 70 coding standard violations in C++ programs. These violations represent high-level design The introduction to this article provides insufficient context for those unfamiliar with the subject matter.

flaws or other problems that may hinder code readability, portability, etc.

The RuleWizard feature also allows developers and/or managers to graphically customize their own rules to be enforced. Using CodeWizard to identify and prevent design and coding problems early on can save valuable time and resources that would otherwise be wasted if left to be fixed later in the development process.
