Boehringer Mannheim and Eli Lilly and Company Announce Diabetes-Care Alliance.


KOBE, Japan--(HealthWire)--Nov. 7, 1994-- Boehringer Mannheim and Eli Lilly and Company Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) is a global pharmaceutical company and one of the world's largest corporations. Eli Lilly's global headquarters is located in Indianapolis, Indiana, in the United States.  today announced that they have agreed in principle to develop joint marketing efforts and other collaborative programs intended to maximize the companies' abilities to deliver diabetes care throughout the world.

Lilly and Boehringer Mannheim are nearing completion of agreements for specific programs in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and several other countries around the world. Discussions are in various stages in more than 20 additional countries.

 International Diabetes Federation The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is a worldwide alliance of 200 diabetes associations in more than 150 countries, who have come together to enhance the lives of people with diabetes everywhere. The companies expect that this collaboration will involve sharing of information between the two companies regarding their respective diabetes-care products. Randall L. Tobias Randall L. Tobias (born March 20, 1942) is a former chief executive officer of Eli Lilly and Company who became the first United States Director of Foreign Assistance, and served concurrently as the Administrator of the U.S. , chairman and chief executive officer of Lilly, commented, "I fully expect this collaboration to significantly enhance our ability to develop a more integrated method of managing diabetes as well as our ability to develop new products that will improve the lives of individuals who must live with the disease."

Both Ek and Tobias are attending the IDF (Intermediate Distribution Frame) A wiring rack located between the MDF (main distribution frame) and the intended end user devices (telephones, routers, PCs, etc.).
