BodyScan Imaging Centers Announces Official Opening of BodyScan Imaging Center of Las Vegas.

Business/Technology Editors

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 19, 2001

BodyScan Imaging LLC announced that the official opening of its BodyScan Imaging Center of Las Vegas will be on November 26, 2001. The facility will utilize the Imatron Electron Beam Tomography Electron beam tomography is a specific form of computed axial tomography (CAT or CT) in which the X-Ray tube is not mechanically spun in order to rotate the source of X-Ray photons.  (EBT EBT

) scanner for the early and non-invasive detection of coronary artery disease coronary artery disease, condition that results when the coronary arteries are narrowed or occluded, most commonly by atherosclerotic deposits of fibrous and fatty tissue. , colon cancer, lung disease, spine/joint scanning, osteoporosis screening and other frequently occurring medical conditions.

BodyScan Imaging Center's utilization of Electron Beam Tomography allows for scans up to 10 times faster than any other technology available today. Scan speed is critical when the object of the scan is the beating heart; whereas other scanners produce images of the heart that are blurry and unclear, the EBT scanner produces razor sharp images. Those clear, sharp images are imperative for effective diagnosis and evaluation of the patient's heart by a physician.

Imatron's EBT scanner is intended to function as a non-invasive diagnostic x-ray system to produce two- and three-dimensional images of human anatomical cavities, using cross-sectional images reconstructed from x-ray transmission data from the same axial plane taken at different angles. The Imatron EBT scanner permits radiologic visualization of such cavities or vessels during or after injection of or filling with a contrast medium or inflation with gases such as air or carbon dioxide. In addition, the Imatron EBT scanner is specifically intended and cleared to perform as a diagnostic x-ray system permitting unique radiologic visualizations of the heart, arteries, lung and colon.

Recognizing the need for safe, low cost, non-invasive testing, particularly for heart, lung disease, and cancer, the Management of BodyScan Imaging LLC is committed to establishing state-of-the-art imaging centers throughout the nation that offer diagnostic excellence, optimum efficiency, and maximum comfort.

Anthony Sciuto, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager, stated, "We are pleased to announce the official opening of our newest center, BodyScan Imaging Center of Las Vegas. BodyScan Imaging currently owns and operates three imaging centers located in Kansas City, Missouri Kansas City is the largest city in the state of Missouri.
