Body of race tragedy man is repatriated.


THE body of an Indian man, who died after collapsing during Friday's Bahrain Marathon Relay, was repatriated to Mumbai last night.

The funeral of Sumit Chandra Mathur, 35, will be held at his hometown home·town

His wife Nidhi, 33, and their three-year-old son Shuwriya were on their way to Bahrain to see him on the night of the race and only became aware of the tragedy after they landed.

Mr Mathur complained of cramps in his legs and feeling uneasy before he collapsed near the end of the 48-km race at around 3.45pm.

An ambulance was called but while paramedics were attending to him he suffered a fit and heart seizure.

"We were together on Friday morning and my family and I were with him at the relay," said colleague Pankaj Nallur, who accompanied his body back to India with his wife Rama Nair.

"He was healthy and never complained of any sickness.

"His wife is in deep shock and has not come to terms with his sudden death."

Mr Nallur said the company had paid Mr Mathur's dues and was covering the costs of repatriation Repatriation
