Body of baby found in bin behind pub.

THE body of a newborn baby was discovered yesterday in a bag in an industrial bin behind a pub.

The grim find was made at the rear of the Mornington Arms, Mornington Street, Camden, north London North London is a part of London, England which has several possible definitions. River & geography

Police were making checks with maternity units and homes in the area and appealing urgently for the mother to come forward, a spokesman said.

``She is likely to be in need of medical help and our priority is to ensure that she gets whatever support she needs,'' he added.

``We would ask her to contact police on 020 8733 6573,or Crimestoppers if she wishes to remain anonymous on 0800 555 111. Alternatively, she should contact a hospital for medical advice.''

Police also wanted to speak to anyone who might have seen a woman depositing the bag at the back of the pub, the spokesman said.

``The bag is of dark brown canvas with darker plastic piping,and a light brown interior -described as looking like an old squash or sports bag.

``Anyone who may have seen a woman carrying a bag like that in the area this morning or early afternoon,or anyone who may know who the mother could be, is asked to ring police on the numbers given.''

The sex and ethnic origin of the child have yet to be established.
