Body of artwork.Just a short time remains for visitors to take in the diverse range of exhibitions on show at the Shipley Art Gallery The Shipley Art Gallery is an art gallery situated in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. It is at the north end of Prince Consort Road, near to Shipcote. Origins The Shipley Art Gallery first opened to the public in 1917. in Gateshead. Photography, ceramics and paintings are all on display as part of the three current exhibitions. Hidden Meanings has a selection of the best oil paintings from the Shipley's collection, exploring the way artists have used symbols to convey messages. All 4 Corners documents contemporary life in the North East, using photographs by artists Tony Griffiths and Zuzana Hruskova to celebrate cultural diversity in the region. The exhibition is organised by Diversity North East and North East Cultural Diversity Arts Forum. Finally, Bodywork bodywork /body·work/ (-wurk?) a general term for therapeutic methods that center on the body for the promotion of physical health and emotional and spiritual well-being, including massage, various systems of touch and manipulation, is an exhibition of ceramics by seven different artists who all take their inspiration from the human body.
