Body identified.


A MAN found floating dead in the sea has been named by police.

John Sharp, 40, from Newcastle, was spotted in the water off the coast in South Tyneside South Tyneside is a metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear in North East England.

It is bordered by four other boroughs - Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead to the west, Sunderland in the south, and North Tyneside to the north.

Police and coastguards recovered the body from the Frenchman's Bay area of South Shields South Shields, city (1991 pop. 86,488), South Tyneside, NE England, at the mouth of the Tyne River. It is a significant port. Shipbuilding and marine engineering are the main industries; chemicals and paints are manufactured. , at about 4.25pm. It is understood Mr Sharp had been staying with family in South Shields.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious. But officers are keen to speak to anyone with any information about Mr Sharp's movements before his death. Anyone with information should call police on (0345) 6043 043 ext 65046.
