POLICE sealed off a quiet Coventry street Coventry Street is a short London street, within the City of Westminster, running from Piccadilly Circus to Leicester Square. The street is the main conduit between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square and at the weekend up to 150,000  after a man's body was found in a garden early on Saturday morning.

The 53 year-old was discovered in the front garden of a house in Southbank Road, Coundon, shortly before 8am.

He has not yet been named but neighbours say they believe he lived in the street.

They also made door-to-door inquiries to check if residents had seen anything.

One shocked neighbour said: "The first I knew about it was when the police knocked on my door."

"I can't imagine what it must have been like for the poor people who live in that house to open their curtains and see a dead body. And then to realise it was one of their neighbours.

"Everyone has been standing around in the street talking and trying to come to terms with what has happened.

"This is such a friendly and quiet residential street, somewhere where people come to put down roots.

"People often keep to themselves but I know most of my neighbours by sight, if not by name, and would exchange words with them if I saw them at the shops."

The road remained sealed off for most of the morning, forcing buses and cars to re-route through neighbouring streets.

Police said they were treating the death as "unexplained", but the Telegraph understands it was not being viewed as suspicious.
