manufacturer, providing products to major national brands such as Procter & Gamble, Revlon and Playtex. Just a few years ago, few people had heard of Body Blue. Today, Body Blue is quickly becoming a household name and is earning a reputation for excellent people, the ability to instantly respond to new opportunities and cutting-edge research and development capabilities.

Focus on People: Body Blue attributes their success to their focus on people and relationships. "Most traditional companies focus on the destination--sales growth, profitability, market share and other monetary figures. Body Blue focuses on the path--people and relationships", comments David Elliott, President & CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Body Blue. "We have learned that if you surround yourselves with the right people and focus on nurturing relationships with customers, suppliers and employees based on integrity and excellence, the destinations take care of themselves. In the end, people are a lot more fun than numbers", added Mr. Elliott.

Body Blue differentiates themselves from their competitors in two key ways.

Speed: First, they focus on speed. "In a competitive situation, most reputable manufacturers will be very close in terms of price and quality. Body Blue wins business in these situations because we can turn on a dime and bring products to market extremely quickly", comments Duncan Coopland, V.P. Sales & Marketing at Body Blue. "In addition to sheer speed, we strive to make our customers' lives easy by focusing on project managing the details of all aspects of manufacturing. This allows our customers to focus on marketing their products, which makes the entire supply chain more successful. This is what we mean by 'completing the puzzle'", added Mr. Coopland.

Research & Development: Second, Body Blue focuses on research and the development of proprietary technologies. Body Blue has recently launched some impressive innovations including the world's first Propylene Glycol propylene glycol

a chemical used industrially as an antifreeze, solvent stabilizer, as a preservative in liquid livestock feeds and pharmaceutically as a vehicle or solvent for medicinal preparations.

"The R&D departments of our national brand customers are constantly getting their budgets slashed and are becoming very receptive to formulation and proprietary technologies from Body Blue" comments Mike Hooper Mike Hooper (born February 10 1964), was a goalkeeper for Liverpool, mainly operating as an understudy to Bruce Grobbelaar. He also played for Newcastle, before retiring early in 1995.

Born in Bristol, England, Hooper attended Glenfrome Junior School.

Mr.
, who prior to joining Body Blue worked in R&D at Unilever for 14 years, adds "proprietary technologies create opportunities for higher and more sustainable margins for the entire supply chain including the national brand and the retailer."

Body Blue's new manufacturing facility, adjacent to their existing facility, contains brand new research and development laboratories including a microbiology microbiology: see biology.

New Manufacturing Facility: In addition to housing brand new offices and research and development laboratories, Body Blue's new facility provides an additional 135 million units of annual capacity in the form of completely automated, high-speed manufacturing lines. This includes a new rotary liquid line running at 240 bottles per minute, a new stick line at 240 sticks per minute and a new tube line at 85 tubes per minute.

Instant Response: "In order to be able to instantly respond to new opportunities, we cannot wait twelve months for new manufacturing lines to be installed. Instead, we operate at 40-60% or our capacity to facilitate both growth and surges in demand", comments Nestor Cabrol, Director of Manufacturing. Mr. Cabrol, who headed up manufacturing at L'Oreal prior to joining Body Blue, adds "we are confident enough in the demand for our research and development technologies technologies that we do not hesitate to install new production technologies before selling their capacity."

With a focus on speed, a commitment to research and development and a brand new production facility, Body Blue is well-positioned in a market that is seeing an increasing trend towards the outsourcing of manufacturing, greater pressures to bring products to market quickly and a race to differentiate.
