Bodine Aluminum Inc. selects plant site for producing Toyota parts.

Bodine Aluminum, inc, a St. Louis manufacturer of aluminum cast parts, has announced that Troy, MO, will be the site of a new facility for producing parts for Toyota's American-built cars. The plant, which will employ about 10 people, will build intake manifolds and cylinder heads for the power train plant at Toyota Motor Manufacturing U.S.A., replacing parts imported from Japan. Last December, the company agreed to be bought by Toyota Motor Corp's New York-based subsidiary, Toyota Motor Corporate Services of North America, Inc. At that time, it was mentioned that construction of an additional plant to handle the new operations may be necessary. "The expansion of our facilities has been an open secret for a long time now. I am glad that our plans are proceeding right on schedule," Bodine president Robert Lloyd said. "Although we remain strongly committed to our existing business at the commercial jobbing foundry in Vinita Park, everyone is very excited about the new plant." Bodine's management and the Troy Developing Authority are negotiating the purchase of 50 acres for the new site. Construction is expected to begin in spring 1991 if all government requirements and regulatory permits are obtained.
