Boccia: Boccia boost for NW.


THE NORTH West junior team won four out of the seven categories at the DSE 1. DSE - Display Screen Equipment. See Visual Display Unit.
2. DSE - Data Structure Editor.
 National Boccia Championships at Greenbank Leisure Centre, the seniors finishing second to Yorkshire.

Merseyside contributed strongly with a number of local successes. Lyndsey Gallagher (Liverpool Challenge Club) won the class 2 national senior title. Jack Kennedy (Liverpool Fairfield Club) finished second in the junior class 8 event, while Wirral's Les Marshall (Riverside Centre) came third.

The event is the largest boccia tournament in Britain and was organised by Merseyside Sport.

Tournament Director Steve Sullivan Steve Sullivan (born July 6, 1974 in Timmins, Ontario, Canada) is a professional ice hockey player in the National Hockey League and has played for the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and Nashville Predators.  told Junior Xsport: ``It is very exciting to see so many young talented players coming through the North West boccia development programme. ''

Boccia is a game, like petanc or French boules, that is very accessible to disabled people. Even if competitors are unable to throw the ball it may be sent down a ramp.
