Boca Research expands its board and names two new directors.

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1996--Boca Research Inc. (NASDAQ:BOCI) Friday named George Gan and Patrick J. Keenan to its board of directors, and increased its board size to seven members.

In making the announcement, Tony Zalenski, Boca's president and chief executive officer, commented: "We are pleased to welcome George and Patrick to our board. Their appointments demonstrate our increasing emphasis on international business. George, a prominent Malaysian businessman, has a background in accounting, sales and marketing, as well as entrepreneurial expertise and experience in the high-tech industry. Patrick is a Canadian, a chartered accountant and has extensive board experience. They will complement each other, broaden our board's composition, and give our business a first-hand international perspective," he noted.

In 1987, Gan, who lives in Kuala Lumpur and is a graduate of City University of London, cofounded a high-technology company, Hitechniaga, a personal computer and peripheral packager. The company was acquired by MBf, a $5 billion asset-based Asian conglomerate, in 1991 and Gan was later named a corporate officer and president of MBf Technology Group. In 1995, he was also named Corporate Director of Business Development for the MBf group of companies. During the third quarter of 1995, Boca signed a joint venture agreement with MBf Group to form MBf/Boca Asia Pacific Sdn Bhd, thereby accelerating its global expansion efforts.

Keenan, who hails from Toronto, is a graduate of McGill University. Currently, he is chairman and chief executive officer of Keewhit Investments Ltd., an international investment holding company. Previously, he was president and CEO of Patino, N.V., an international mining and smelting corporation with worldwide interests in metals, ores and chemicals. Presently, his directorships include Brascan Limited, Westmin Resources Limited, London Life Insurance Company, London Insurance Group Inc., The Trust Company of London Life, Hume Publishing Company Limited, Fairwater Capital Corporation, Keywhit Inc., Scott's Hospitality Inc., and The Ireland Fund of Canada. He is a Patron of Grenville Christian College, past chairman of St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, and a director of its foundation.
