) announced Thursday it has received an editor's choice award from VARBusiness for its 14.4Kbps Multimedia Voice Modem with VoiceView(r).

Cited in the September 1995 issue of VARBusiness, Boca's 14.4Kbps VoiceView modem now adds this third editor's choice honor to its previous two awarded by Computer Telephony See CTI, VoIP and IP telephony.

The product features a 14,400bps fax and data modem A modem used for sending data and not faxes. See modem and fax/modem.  with a voicemail system offering up to 1000 password-protected mailboxes. VoiceView is an alternating technology -- once the data goes through, it automatically switches back to your voice conversation.

With the TalkShop software, users of the Boca 14.4Kbps Multimedia Voice Modem will be able to shop by phone while receiving product information on their computer screens, exchange electronic business cards, send and receive files and play interactive games with other VoiceView modem users. The package also includes Global Village Communications' FaxWorks data and voice communications software (communications, software) communications software - Application programs, operating system components, and probably firmware, forming part of a communication system. These different software components might be classified according to the functions within the Open Systems , RJ-11 telephone cable, users manual with AT Command Reference Guide, and free Internet and on-line service offers.

VoiceView TalkShop currently ships with five VoiceView Marketplace service providers: Blockbuster Music, 1-800-FLOWERS, R.R. Donnelley's MetroMail, as well as a national airline and banking service. Electronic commerce is now poised to become more widely accepted due to the convenience of VoiceView applications. With more and more VoiceView service providers coming on-line in the future, computer users will have a new way of conducting business transactions with improved customer service from VoiceView-ready merchants and help desks.
