Bober, Markey, Fedorovich's James Bowen Elected President of University of Akron Alumni Association.


AKRON, Ohio -- James M. Bowen, CPA (Computer Press Association, Landing, NJ) An earlier membership organization founded in 1983 that promoted excellence in computer journalism. Its annual awards honored outstanding examples in print, broadcast and electronic media. The CPA disbanded in 2000. , MT, was elected president of The University of Akron's National Alumni Board of Directors. Bowen is a partner with the regional CPA firm of Bober, Markey, Fedorovich & Company (BMFC BMFC Black Mountain Forestry Center (Maple Falls, Washington) ). The National Alumni Board of Directors serves as the governing body for The University of Akron Enrollment in fall 2006 was 23,539 students.[1] The school offers more than 200 undergraduate degrees [2] and 100 graduate degrees [3]. The University's best-known program is its College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, which is located in a  Alumni Association.

Bowen, a partner at the firm handling taxation matters, earned his Master of Taxation from The University of Akron in 1991. In addition to his leadership position on the National Alumni Board at the university, he also serves on the institution's Accountancy Advisory Board and its Master of Taxation Advisory Board.

Currently, Bowen serves both private and public companies in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, real estate, banking and professional service firms. Specifically, he has worked extensively in the areas of Internal Revenue Service practice and procedure, state and local income taxation, real and personal property tax, sales and use tax Sales and use tax refers to:

, tax abatements and incentives, mergers and acquisitions, and tax accounting methods and periods. He also has significant experience in the accounting for income taxes, tax risk management, and the establishment of tax based internal controls.

Prior to joining BMFC in 2003, Bowen was a principal with Ernst & Young, where he served as the area leader for its tax operations practice. He currently serves on the Public Companies Task Force for PKF PKF Peace Keeping Force
