Bobcats, Oakers tied for first at district.

GLIDE - Myrtle Point and Oakland Oakland, city (1990 pop. 372,242), seat of Alameda co., W Calif., on the eastern side of San Francisco Bay; inc. 1852. Together with San Francisco and San Jose, the city comprises the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States.  were tied after the first day of the Big Fir district boys track meet at Glide on Friday. The Bobcats and Oakers both had 47 points, followed by Reedsport with 39.

Oakland's Evan Corbin won the javelin with a throw of 169-10 and teammate Sullivan Edwards took first in the 3,000 (9:50.92).

The Eagles finished the first day with 59 points, followed by Oakridge with 43 and Lowell at 36 1/2 .

Waldport's Danny Blakely won the high jump (6-1) and teammate A.J. Gonsalves took first in the long jump (20-11 1/2 ).

Gold Beach and Reedsport ended the first day of the Big Fir district meet at Glide tied with 42 points, followed by Oakland with 30 1/2 .

Gold Beach got first-day victories from Amanda Boice in the high jump (5-2) and Tess Treinen in the long jump (15- 3/4 ). Hannah Swenson of Pacific won the javelin (107-8) and Myrtle Point's Nyika Corbett won the 3,000 (11:19.86).

Meghan Townsend cleared 5-0 to win the high jump and Breann Carter soared 9-0 to claim the pole vault as Lowell took the first-day lead at the Trico district meet at Central Linn.
