Tivoli today made a related announcement demonstrating the company's lead in the management of heterogeneous IT environments. (See related Tivoli press release issued today, "Tivoli Delivers New e-business Management Solutions for OS/390 Environments"). The new Tivoli management products provide customers with integrated service level management, the ability to manage all host and distributed environments from OS/390 and extended network management support while providing business process views of all enterprise applications.

"With new products developed under a single architecture to span both host and distributed environments and access to IBM sales, and IBM research IBM Research, a division of IBM, is a research and advanced development organization and currently consists of eight locations throughout the world and hundreds of projects.  and development, Tivoli is delivering to customers a solution that addresses the cross-platform management challenge. With these advancements, I expect Tivoli will further its leading position in enterprise management."

Eliminating Islands of Management

With nearly 70 percent of all corporate data in the world residing on S/390 servers, continuous management of these systems is crucial. Previously IT organizations had to manage using different tools that resulted in islands of management between host and distributed environments. As a growing number of companies rely on the S/390 server's industry-leading capacity to power distributed enterprise networks, Web server environments, e-business and ERP applications, the need for seamless end-to-end management becomes crucial to providing consistent quality and availability. The new Tivoli solutions give customers the ability to centrally manage and analyze business system functions from their platform of choice while helping to preserve existing investments in S/390 management solutions.

"In the new networked economy of e-business, the 'customer experience' is essential," said Martin Neath Neath (nēth), Welsh Castell-nedd, town (1981 pop. 48,687), Neath Port Talbot, S Wales, on the Neath River. "If your enterprise systems are not functioning, your customers may move to the competition that is only a mouse click away. Under Bob Yellin's direction, Tivoli will further its efforts to ensure that all aspects of the enterprise, especially OS/390 connected and driven applications, systems, storage and networks, are managed in a unified fashion."
