Wright has chaired and addressed many medical administration seminars in Europe and Australia, and has been a speaker at the United Nations to representatives of Middle Eastern countries regarding their health care systems.

A church elder and chairman of the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church Foundation, Wright and his wife, Mary, have two children and five grandchildren.
