Pearlstein, author of the recently released "Celebrity Stew," has fond memories of working with Bob Hope. There is an entire chapter in "Celebrity Stew" called "Bob Hope - A Classic," in reference to how Pearlstein helped promote Hope's famous charity golf tournament, called The Bob Hope Desert Classic, for several years.

One of Pearlstein's food clients was the California Desert Grapefruit Advisory Board. He came up with a tasty grapefruit recipe every year and submitted it to Hope for approval and then released it to food editors around the country. This garnered positive publicity for both the California Grapefruit industry and the Desert Classic golf tournament, which raised funds for the Eisenhower Medical Center The Eisenhower Medical Center of Rancho Mirage, California, USA is the Coachella Valley's only not-for-profit hospital, one of the top one hundred hospitals in the United States in 2005 and the location of the world-famous Betty Ford Center.  and several local charities in the Palm Springs area.

Pearlstein also posed Hope and many of the celebrities with the industry's "grapefruit girls," and released the photos (many of which appear in "Celebrity Stew") throughout the country, again, benefiting both the grapefruit industry and Hope's charities.

"Bob was one of the classiest guys I've ever worked with," said Pearlstein. "He was the biggest celebrity around, yet, he always asked how we wanted to have him pose in the photos. He graciously posed with our lovely spokespersons, along with everyone from President Gerald Ford, Sammy Davis Sammy Davis may refer to:
