Board of directors election.


Connie Arrau Sturm, of West Virginia, has been chosen to fill a vacancy on the slate of nominees to represent the Eastern Division on the MTNA MTNA Music Teachers National Association
MTNA Middle Tennessee Nursery Association (McMinnville, Tennessee) 
 Board of Directors.

, coordinates piano pedagogy programs at West Virginia University West Virginia University, mainly at Morgantown; coeducational; land-grant and state supported; est. and opened 1867 as an agricultural college, renamed 1868. . Sturm is the author/clinician of seventy-five articles/presentations, the winner of numerous awards, including the AMT See vPro.  Article of the Year Award, WVMTA WVMTA West Virginia Music Teachers Association  Member of the Year and WVU Music Division's Outstanding Teacher. She has been a leader in professional organizations formerly serving as MTNA National Student Chapters chair, WVMTA Student Chapters chair, former WVMTA president and the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy's Historical Research Committee Chair. As WVMTA president, Connie helped repeal a state sales tax on music lessons, and as National Student Chapters Chair, she helped increase student membership by 4 percent and student conference attendance by 45 percent.

"I look forward to helping MTNA enhance the music teaching profession," she says.

Sturm was nominated after Melanie DeMent, NCTM, withdrew her name from the slate. The ballots and electronic voting instructions will be available in the February/March 2004 issue of AMT.
