The new HTE software will replace the Water Works' legacy system, first developed in the 1970s.

"This transition to HTE software will allow us to move our operations to the next level," said Water Works Information Technology Manager Kevin Naumann. "We found that without significantly increasing our IT staff, we couldn't continue to re-engineer and upgrade our own system and still keep up with the demands of our daily operations. We tried, but we realized we were not getting ahead."

The Board of Water Works purchased HTE's GMBA GMBA Global Master of Business Administration (academics)

All of the applications feature the new HTE NaviLine(TM) Windows-based browser interface.

"We're looking forward to a significant increase in productivity with HTE. Instead of jumping back and forth to several screens, we'll be able to just point and click to accomplish our work. Our employees are especially excited about the look and feel of the browser interface," Naumann said.

"There are not many companies that offer that level of integration, and of those that do, we felt HTE clearly had the superior product," he said. "Their people were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. They really had their ducks in a row."

The Pueblo Water Works serves the city's population of 100,000 and has some 37,000 metered accounts.

"We're pleased to be selected by the Board of Water Works of Pueblo as their technology partner for the future," said Joe Loughry, HTE president and chief executive officer.
