The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners voted today to invoke the Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  waiver that allows parking within 300 feet of the passenger terminals at Los Angeles International Airport “LAX” redirects here. The proposed plan includes no curbside drop-offs or pick-ups of passengers by private vehicles. All private vehicles entering the Central Terminal Area would be required to park in the parking structures. Also, all vehicles entering the terminal area would be subject to random search.

LAWA Executive Director Kennard would decide when the passenger terminal area would be re-opened after private consultation with law enforcement officials, including the LAX Airport Police, Los Angeles Police Department "LAPD" and "L.A.P.D." redirect here.
