DVD disk format is mostly used as a video recording medium. But as the time progressed, the need arose for a new high definition video. Sony has also introduced the Blu-ray disk technology in its Play-station 3. Therefore it is one of the first devices based on Bluray technology that has reached the mainstream. This was a great attraction for the gamers and hence boosted the sales of Playstation 3 game systems because it offered the highly reliable Bluray technology.
