Bluewater Purchases the MT Hanne Knutsen from Knutsen OAS Shipping AS.

 Shipping AS. Delivery to Bluewater is expected to take place on or before 30th June 2006. The MT Hanne Knutsen was built in the Spanish shipyard Astilleros de Sestao and was delivered to Knutsen OAS Shipping AS in 2000. The vessel was designed as a typical North Sea shuttle tanker A shuttle tanker is a ship designed for oil transport from an off-shore oil field. It is equipped with off-loading equipment compatible with the oil field in question. This normally consists of a taut hawser arrangement or dynamic positioning to maintain the position relative to  and has since been trading in Baltic ice regions and has also been in service as a shuttle tanker. The Hanne Knutsen has a storage capacity of 860,000 bbls cargo, and is a sister vessel of the Aasgaard C FSO (Free Space Optics) Transmitting optical signals through the air using infrared lasers. Also known as "wireless optics," FSO provides point-to-point and point-to-multipoint transmission at very high speeds without requiring a government license for use of the spectrum. .

The hull structure offers considerably higher strength than standard tankers and is rated Ice Class 1A which is ideal for harsh environments. The vessel is provided with a DP2 class Dynamic Positioning Dynamic positioning (DP) is a system to automatically maintain a ship’s position and heading by using her own propellers and thrusters. This allows operations at sea where mooring or anchoring is not feasible due to deep water, congestion on the sea bottom (pipelines,  capability with bow and stern thrusters and two main-propellers combined with special rudders. The two large generators (8 MW each) are driven by the ship's two main diesel engines which can be used as electric power generation for future FPSO operations.
