AMSTERDAM, Netherlands--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2004

Recent Enhancements Ensure Compliance with SIG's 1.2 Spec,

Speeds Development Time

Extended Systems (Nasdaq:XTND XTND Extend
XTND XML Transition Network Definition
) announced today during the Wireless Connectivity World conference that the Bluetooth Special Interest Group The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is the body that oversees the development of Bluetooth standards and the licensing of the Bluetooth technologies and trademarks to manufacturers.  (SIG) has qualified the company's Bluetooth(R) software development kits for both embedded and Windows CE environments as compliant with the recently released 1.2 core specification.

Extended Systems' Bluetooth software development kits provide the underlying profiles and protocol stacks that make Bluetooth wireless communications possible in both embedded and Windows CE environments. Qualification to ensure interoperability and compliance with the Bluetooth SIG specification requires detailed protocol-level testing. Because Extended Systems has already performed these tests and received certification, hardware manufacturers implementing Bluetooth wireless technology capabilities into their products can speed development time and reduce development costs.

To meet the qualification criteria, an independently authorized Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB BQB Bluetooth Qualification Body
BQB Bioengineering Quiz Bowl (BMES)
BQB Brother's Quality Bakery (Kearny, NJ)
) examined the results of hundreds of specific test cases as required by the Bluetooth SIG. After determining the software's compliance on applicable profiles and protocols, the BQB certified the product with the Bluetooth SIG and officially placed it on the Bluetooth Qualified Product List. New profiles qualified for XTNDAccess Blue SDK (Software Developer's Kit) See developer's toolkit and Windows SDK.

"Pre-qualification enables our customers to skip many of the laborious steps required to ensure compliance with the SIG's specification," said Kerrin Pease, vice president of research and development at Extended Systems. "In addition, in a market that has recently seen tremendous consolidation and volatility, this release indicates our commitment to our embedded mobility products and helps us maintain our leading position in delivering quality Bluetooth software to the market."

Extended Systems has provided wireless connectivity solutions to hardware manufacturers since 1995. These solutions are flexible, enable customers to implement profiles as necessary, and can work with virtually any chipset.
