Bluespec's SystemC Synthesis and Low-Power Technology on Display During 43rd DAC.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Please replace the release with the following corrected version due to multiple revisions.

The corrected release reads:

BLUESPEC'S SYSTEMC SYNTHESIS AND LOW-POWER TECHNOLOGY ON DISPLAY DURING 43RD DAC See D/A converter and discretionary access control.

DAC - Digital to Analog Converter

Bluespec Inc. will exhibit its electronic system level (ESL (1) An earlier family of client/server development tools for Windows and OS/2 from Ardent Software (formerly VMARK). It was originally developed by Easel Corporation, which was acquired by VMARK. ) synthesis software, including newly introduced SystemC-based ESEComp, in booth #4163 during the 43rd Design Automation Conference (DAC) July 24-27 at San Francisco's Moscone Center.

SystemC Synthesis

ESEComp synthesizes SystemC designs into Verilog register transfer level (RTL (Register Transfer Level) A high-level hardware description language (HDL) for defining digital circuits. The circuits are described as a collection of registers, Boolean equations, control logic such as "if-then-else" statements as well as complex event sequences; ) code providing the first integrated modeling, verification and design implementation SystemC flow for control logic and complex datapaths. It moves SystemC from being just another transaction level modeling (TLM TLM Telemetry
TLM Transaction Level Modeling
TLM Tout Le Monde (French)
TLM The Leprosy Mission (Northern Ireland)
TLM Transmission Line Matrix
TLM The Little Mermaid (fairy tale)
) language with almost no ties to RTL (except algorithmic synthesis) to an accurate modeling language with full hardware architecture and implementation support.

Low Power Technology

Through private meetings, Bluespec will preview low-power technology that performs fine-grained, dynamic optimization. This new technology leverages the unique insight and control over cycle-by-cycle scheduling provided by Bluespec ESL synthesis.

Bluespec will also exhibit an 802.11a transmitter design optimized for low power through rapid micro-architectural exploration. The final design only draws four milliwatts and highlights a combined Bluespec-Sequence Design flow. The seven different candidate micro-architectures explored only took five man-days to implement.

For more details or to schedule a demonstration or private meeting, contact George Harper, vice president of Bluespec, who can be reached at (781) 250-2200 or via email at george.harper@bluespec.com. About Bluespec

Bluespec Inc. manufactures an industry standards-based Electronic Design Automation (EDA (1) (Electronic Design Automation) Using the computer to design, lay out, verify and simulate the performance of electronic circuits on a chip or printed circuit board. ) toolset that significantly raises the level of abstraction The level of complexity by which a system is viewed. The higher the level, the less detail. The lower the level, the more detail. The highest level of abstraction is the single system itself.  for hardware design while retaining the ability to automatically synthesize high-quality RTL, without compromising speed, power or area. The toolset, the only one focused on control and complex datapaths, allows ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  and FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) A type of gate array that is programmed in the field rather than in a semiconductor fab. Containing up to hundreds of thousands of gates, there are a variety of FPGA architectures on the market.  designers to reduce design time, bugs and re-spins that contribute to product delays and escalating costs.
