Bluesocket Introduces Complete WLAN Solution Suite; New Strategy, Products Redefine Trust and Simplicity in Complex Environments.

LAS VEGAS Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States.  -- Bluesocket, Inc. (www.bluesocket.com), the leader in open wireless security and management solutions, today announced that it is launching a new product family - BlueSecure - at Networld+Interop that includes new access points that require zero-configuration, and the industry's first centralized cen·tral·ize

"Bluesocket has identified a growing market need and enhanced its existing product base to meet the challenges facing today's enterprises," said Craig Mathias, a Principal with the mobile and wireless advisory firm Farpoint Group (Ashland, MA). "They've always been a leader in wireless-LAN security, and BlueSecure is their most comprehensive offering yet. WLAN security remains a key requirement in any enterprise solution, and increasingly, even in networks without users."

The complete product set meets trust boundary requirements including secure guest access, universal authentication (1) Verifying the integrity of a transmitted message. See message integrity, e-mail authentication and MAC.

(2) Verifying the identity of a user logging into a network.

These features are delivered across four networking layers: User, RF, Access and Management.

--A complete IDS/IPS system made up of centralized sensors, distributed sensors and AP/sensor combos is available only from Bluesocket for a customized solution. Later this year, Bluesocket will be integrating sensors into the access points to further simplify the deployment and security of WLAN systems.

--Next-generation, zero-configuration access points (APs) extend trust and simplicity to the wireless edge. Simplified deployment reduces OpEx and frees up IT resources, regardless of the infrastructure deployment model.

--A centralized management system provides provisioning, fault and configuration management of distributed Bluesocket environments include controllers, IPS (1) (Inches Per Second) The measurement of the speed of tape passing by a read/write head or paper passing through a pen plotter.

--Bluesocket Secure Mobility Matrix APIs allow for the industry's first cooperation with infrastructure services and applications and enable seamless roaming as users move across multiple subnets security. The APs also have the capability to communicate for security, role and policy and allow for network-aware applications that would benefit from infrastructure, location and role policy information.

"Our new portfolio was developed as a result of customer and market feedback on the need to meet increasingly demanding trust boundary requirements," said Ralph Calistri, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "Bluesocket will continue to be a leader in the WLAN market because our products are based on open standards Specifications for hardware and software that are developed by a standards organization or a consortium involved in supporting a standard. Available to the public for developing compliant products, open standards imply "open systems;" that an existing component in a system can be replaced , as they always have been. We are delivering on our promise to bring maximum choice to our customers."

Bluesocket recently reached the 1,000-customer mark with WLAN deployments worldwide in global organizations including education, government, healthcare, hospitality, enterprises and public access. (See press release, "Bluesocket Reaches 1,000 Customer Milestone," April 25, 2005.)

As part of this announcement, Bluesocket has also extended the BlueSecure product family name with Secure Mobility Controllers that offer authentication and policy enforcement, the BlueSecure Intrusion Protection System that consists of a RF sensor, console and server, and the BlueView Management System to offer its customers and target markets a complete WLAN solution.

Among the new products is the BlueSecure 400 Branch Office Controller, a secure mobility controller designed for enterprises that require a solution for branch/regional offices with less than 50 concurrent users. It offers secure guest access, managed ports for directly connected APs, one protected port for network connection and Web UI and/or central management through the BlueView Management System.
