. Nearly one in three Americans is covered by a Blues plan.

The previous record high was 87.9 million in 1975. Membership has grown in each of the last nine years. The recent year's gains occurred in 23 plans in all regions of the country, with eight reporting enrollment increases of at least 5%. Ten plans gained more than 100,000 members.
