Bluegrass festival evolved at Rocky Acres; Annual event now a two-day affair.

STERLING - What started out as a unique company party for Brian Favreau and his father is fast becoming an annual bluegrass bluegrass, any species of the large and widely distributed genus Poa, chiefly range and pasture grasses of economic importance in temperate and cool regions. In general, bluegrasses are perennial with fine-leaved foliage that is bluish green in some species.  and country music festival.

The Favreaus, who each own their own company and jointly work the Rocky Acres Farm on Chace Hill Road, started hosting pig roasts at the farm for their company outings. Along with the pig roast, they would hire a disc jockey disc jockey (DJ)

and put together some games for the children.

After Brian's wife, Blue, took him to a bluegrass festival on another farm, the Rocky Acres Farm Festival was born. "He said, `We could do this too,'" Mrs. Favreau said.

Back for a second year, this weekend's Rocky Acres Farm Festival is expanding to two days and adding an antique car An antique car is generally defined as a car over 25 years of age, this being the definition used by the Antique Automobile Club of America and many other organizations worldwide. About 500 people attended last year's festival, which was held only on Saturday. "The bands had no idea it was our first year," Mrs. Favreau said. "It was very well organized."

Three of last year's bands are back again: Monadnock Monadnock (mənăd`nŏk), isolated peak, 3,165 ft (965 m) high, SW N.H. It is a popular hiking destination, noted for its view. The peak lends its name to the geomorphic term monadnock,  Bluegrass, Dan Helman and Marking Time, and No Spare Parts Spare parts, also referred to as Service Parts is a term used to indicate extra parts available and in proximity to the mechanical item, such as a automobile, boat, engine, for which they might be used.

"There's one country band each day, and each band plays twice," Mrs. Favreau said.

The festival includes a pumpkin for all attendees, tractor rides, face-painting and children's games. A pulled pork Pulled pork is a form of barbecue.

Although attendees may only view the festival in terms of the music and a day at the farm, Mrs. Favreau is looking ahead, and hoping that it will eventually bring in enough revenue to help support the cost of operating their 76-acre farm.

"The cost to set up the festival is a lot," Mrs. Favreau said. "But once we have it all done, we should be able to recoup most of the costs."

Mrs. Favreau added that she plans to donate a percentage of any profits to Earth Shares of New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt. . "I believe in supporting the environment and agriculture any way we can. We try to minimize the damage to the environment by the way we farm," she said.

The farm raises grass-fed beef, without hormones or antibiotics.

"We grow all our own grain, including farming 100 acres off site for our grass-fed beef," Mrs. Favreau said. "We're pretty self-sustaining, but it's a lot of work."

The second annual Rocky Acres Farm Festival is Saturday and Sunday at the farm, 109 Chace Hill Road. The cost is $50 per adult for the weekend, children 12 and under are free. Saturday only tickets are $30 and Sunday only tickets are $20.
