This article is about the football manager. For the California politician and Assemblymember, see Dave Jones (politician).
David Ronald (Dave) Jones (born August 17 1956 in Liverpool) is an English football manager currently in charge of Cardiff City.
is refusing to look too far ahead despite Cardiff's fine start to the season, which has seen them occupy an automatic promotion place this week in the Coca-Cola Championship.

The Bluebirds host Nottingham Forest today in a match between two on-form teams, with the visitors on a fine run which has seen them claim five wins and a draw in their last six games, guiding them to just one point off the play-offs.

4-3 win at Sheffield United last weekend, and hopes are high they can succeed where they stumbled last season when they appeared to be set for a challenge for an automatic promotion place but failed to even make the play-offs.

However, Jones will not get ahead of himself and told www.cardiffcity.co.uk: "I think you can look probably right down to 16 clubs that are all potential promotion challengers. "Everybody thinks it is a poor division - normally the ones that are not in it. It's a very tough division, it's a very hard division, because the majority of the teams can beat each other.

"If you want the division just to be one or two teams that can run away with it you won't get that in the Championship.
