On December 1, 2000, the company powering BlueLight's Internet service (ISP) went out of business. At that time, BlueLight took emergency measures to continue to provide uninterrupted Internet access to its users during the holiday season. Beginning in 2001, BlueLight will be making important changes to its Internet service in response to the recent transition.

As a first step, BlueLight will be refocusing the ISP to cater specifically to current and potential customers of the company's popular online shopping site (www.bluelight.com). BlueLight has determined that the typical consumer who uses its ISP is online an average of 15 hours per month. The company also found that a small percentage of BlueLight ISP users average well in excess of 25 hours per month and thus account for a high percentage of BlueLight's telecommunications costs. Following the lead of other free Internet access companies NetZero and Juno, BlueLight will begin instituting a 25-hour limit per month on free Internet access within the next two weeks.

"We want to continue to offer the best Internet service possible for the people who shop at BlueLight.com, and instituting hour limitations on high-impact users will allow us to do just that," said Mark H. Goldstein, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of BlueLight.com. "Consistent with the recent changes that other Internet access companies have made to their services, we have also found it necessary to create usage limits on our service."

Today's announced usage limits will impact only the small percentage of BlueLight's total ISP subscriber base that access the service more than 25 hours per month. BlueLight's current total ISP subscriber base is 5.5 million.

As a next step, to further focus users on shopping, BlueLight will be working with new partners in 2001 to establish an innovative new multi-tiered Internet access program An internet access program is a software program, generally included as part of the operating system, to access the Internet.
