Superbly written by Carol Donsky Newell and quite nicely enhanced by the occasionaly illustrations of Betty Grisham, Blue Lewis And Sasha The Great is the story of a young boy born with a small hole in his heart. Since his body doesn't get enough oxygen, his lips and nails are often colored blue. The boy hates having a hole in his heart, as it means he can't do everything that his energetic friends do. He befriends a little white dog, who becomes his close companion as the day of the surgery to close the hole in his heart draws nearer. The color illustrations perfectly match this story about living through difficult and scary scar·y
