Blue Jays hand Giants rookie first lossThe Toronto Blue Jays handed San Francisco rookie sensation Tim Lincecum his first major league loss and avoided a three-game sweep with a 7-4 victory over the Giants on Wednesday. Aaron Hill had a two-run single in Toronto's five-run fourth inning and Matt Stairs added two RBIs. Dustin McGowan (3-2) won his third straight decision and also added a single, and Adam Lind walked twice in the same inning as the Blue Jays concluded a six-day, six-game road trip with a 3-3 record. McGowan struck out six in six innings as Toronto won in San Francisco for the first time in six tries and improved to 2-7 all-time against the Giants. He allowed two runs and seven hits, while walking four. Former Giant Jeremy Accardo finished for his eighth save in 10 chances. Lincecum (2-1), the Giants' top draft pick in 2006 at 10th overall and nicknamed "Franchise" by his teammates, went 3 2-3 innings, his shortest outing. The right-hander was tagged for seven runs and seven hits, struck out six and walked four. He lasted only 4 1-3 innings in his last outing June 8 and also in his first start May 6 against Philadelphia. He got his first major league hit Wednesday when he lined a low pitch for a leadoff double to left in the third. Barry Bonds, who hit his 747th home run Monday night to move within eight of Hank Aaron's record, pinch hit and struck out with a runner on second for the game's final out. The San Francisco slugger will essentially have two full days of rest before serving as the designated hitter against Boston all weekend in the club's first trip to Fenway Park since playing the Boston Braves in 1915 as the New York Giants. Guillermo Rodriguez drove in two runs in his major league debut, starting at catcher for the Giants after 11 1/2 years in the minor leagues. He got an RBI single in the fourth for his first big league hit and added an eighth-inning sacrifice fly. Stairs' RBI groundout in the first put Toronto ahead and Troy Glaus added a sacrifice fly in the third. Alex Rios and Jason Phillips also had RBI singles in the fourth. The Giants won their first home series since taking all three from Houston from May 21-23 after getting swept in the previous two series in their waterfront ballpark _ by Colorado and Oakland. San Francisco reliever Vinnie Chulk had to come out of the game with an injured right forearm after stopping Phillips' liner leading off the fifth for his only out. Athletic trainer Dave Groeschner came out to the mound and walked off with Chulk. Giants reliever Jonathan Sanchez added an RBI double in the sixth for his first major league hit and San Francisco added two runs in the seventh on Kevin Frandsen's groundout and Rodriguez's sacrifice fly. With Lincecum, Rodriguez and Sanchez getting hits, it gave the Giants four players in two days with their first major league hits. Rookie Nate Schierholtz did it Tuesday night. Blue Jays pitcher A.J. Burnett, who left his start Tuesday night with a strained right shoulder, had an MRI but the results weren't immediately known. Notes:@ Randy Winn was back in San Francisco's starting lineup after being held out a night earlier with a sore ribcage. ... Hall of Famers Juan Marichal and Dave Winfield were picked Wednesday to manage in the All-Star Futures game on July 8 in San Francisco. Marichal, a nine-time All-Star who spent 14 seasons with the Giants, will manage the world team. Winfield, a 12-time All-Star, will lead the U.S. team. ... Toronto designated C Sal Fasano for assignment and purchased the contract of RHP reliever Lee Gronkiewicz from Double-A New Hampshire to provide a fresh arm for the injury-depleted bullpen.
