Under the direction of WellPoint's senior vice president for branding and market research, Richard Sellers, the Web site was re-designed by Blue Cross project manager Craig Tomlin and a team of nearly 100 associates. The Health Information Resource Center is a national clearinghouse for consumer health programs and materials. According to HIRC, nearly 1,000 entries by hundreds of companies and organizations were submitted for awards in 2000. For more than five years, they have organized the National Health Information Awards to bestow a "seal of approval" on the best consumer health information programs and materials published each year. The World Wide Web Awards winners were selected by a panel of 21 judges using key criteria, including the quality, depth and relevance of information, the ability to attract and hold user interests as well as the site's design and structure and interactive nature.
