Blue Cross Blue Shield Association Awards Unisys a National Contract for Claims Outsourcing Services.

BLUE BELL, Pa. -- Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Companies express strong interest in outsourcing select business processes

Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) announced today that the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA) has signed a three-year national contract with Unisys to offer "Blue" companies outsourcing services for claims administration. The competitively bid agreement provides the 40 independent, locally owned and operated BCBS companies the option of contracting with Unisys for an end-to-end business process outsourcing solution. Each company that elects to participate will determine the best mix of Unisys services required to reduce administrative costs, redirect internal resources to strategic programs and address rapidly changing technology and regulatory requirements.

"Some BCBS companies indicated the need for a best-in-class partner for business process outsourcing. Unisys won the bid because of its broad healthcare portfolio, proven experience and flexible approach to managing claims processing," said Mike Ozmeral, managing director, BCBSA.

Unisys business process outsourcing (BPO) services for health care include its Health Payer Administration Solution, (Health PAS). Health PAS provides significant advances in managing claims by reducing long-term administrative and operating costs while enhancing the speed and quality of administrative services. Unisys also delivers key claims processing operations, such as claims entry, document management, member eligibility verification and benefit adjudication, provider verification, pended claims/utilization review and payment processing.
