Blue Coat Appoints Carol Mills to Its Board of Directors.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:BCSI), the leader in WAN optimization and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that Carol Mills has been appointed to fill a newly created seat on the Company's Board of Directors. Ms. Mills brings more than 25 years of experience developing corporate strategy and advising high technology companies, including HP and Juniper Networks. She serves as the Company's seventh board member, its sixth independent director and will serve on the Compensation Committee.

Ms. Mills currently serves on the Board of Directors at Adobe Systems and Tekelec. She served as the executive vice president and general manager of the Infrastructure Products Group at Juniper Networks, from 2004 to 2006. Previously, she served as president and CEO of Acta Technology and general manager for the Enterprise Systems Business Unit at HP. Ms. Mills holds a M.B.A. from Harvard University and a B.A. in economics from Smith College.
